In preparation for the spring 2022 semester, the Boise State Public Health office has offers a few notes on what to expect from the university’s continued response to COVID-19. The office will provide additional updates throughout the semester on important health and safety guidance as needed.
Vaccinations
The Public Health office encourages, but does not require individuals to be vaccinated as the spring semester begins. COVID-19 vaccines are free and available to everyone ages 5 and older on campus and at many other locations in the surrounding community. For questions about vaccination, or about how to make an appointment on campus, visit the Boise State Vaccination Clinic website.
Facial coverings
Facial coverings must continue to be worn in indoor public spaces owned or controlled by the university as well as in crowded outdoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status. Facial coverings will not be required when an individual is alone in an enclosed space, such as a closed-door office, classroom or workspace when no else is present.
Classes
As it always has, Boise State is offering a mix of online, remote, hybrid and in-person courses. For in-person and hybrid courses, the following continued health and safety protocols will be in effect.
- Seating assignments will be mandatory to help with contact tracing.
- Facial coverings must be worn.
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of classroom surfaces will continue, and students and instructors will be asked to do their part to keep desks and tables clean.
- Physical distancing won’t be required.
COVID testing
The COVID Testing Center will pause testing services Dec. 23-26 and Dec. 30, 2021 to Jan. 2, 2022. Services will resume Jan. 3.
Certain residence hall students and certain participants in specific programs such as athletics, club sports etc. will be required to test during spring semester. In these cases, individuals will be notified by the leadership of their respective programs regarding testing requirements.
The Public Health office will continue to use various testing strategies throughout spring semester to identify and isolate asymptomatic individuals infected with COVID-19. If an individual is selected to participate in this additional testing, they will be contacted by the Public Health office directly via Boise State email.
The university has made many strides in the fight against COVID-19, and students, faculty and staff members are encouraged to stay strong, patient and united as we work together to keep our community safe. For more information, visit the COVID-19 response website.
