As fall semester gets underway, students are returning to campus with various levels of mental health issues. Current research shows that, in Idaho, suicide is the second leading cause of death for those aged 10-44. Although data like this can be intimidating to read, research also shows that suicide is preventable.
The campus community is invited to join various events the week of Sept. 7-10 and to come together to prevent suicide at Boise State. Faculty and staff are encouraged to wear their “Here For You” buttons all week and talk with students about the events taking place.
If you are in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.
