Bronco Welcome is Aug. 18-29 and will feature more than 40 events that aim to promote a sense of belonging, introduce traditions, engage students in co-curricular learning, and contribute to a thriving community for new and returning students.
The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is preparing a robust schedule of fall programs and events with the support of cross-divisional partners and guidance from the Office of Public Health.
Staff and faculty can volunteer at residence hall move-in, Convocation, B on the Blue, and staffing of Information Tables. Sign up to volunteer for these opportunities
Residence Hall Move-in
Move-in will take place over two days on Aug. 18-19. Volunteers will greet students and their families, answer questions, and assist with helping them find their way as they move into residence halls. This is a great opportunity to showcase what it means to be part of the Bronco community.
Convocation
Convocation is the official academic welcome to the university for new students. It begins at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 20 in ExtraMile Arena. Sophomores are also invited to Convocation this year. Volunteers will greet students and families and help them find their seats. In recognition of the academic tradition embedded in Convocation, faculty are invited to wear their regalia and sit in a special seating area in the arena. An invitation to RSVP will be sent to faculty soon.
B on the Blue
This annual photograph of students and their families inside Albertsons Stadium will immediately follow Convocation. We are seeking volunteers to create a “spirit tunnel,” welcoming guests onto the Blue, and additional volunteers to direct guests into the formation of the Boise State “B.”
Information Tables
We are looking for friendly faculty and staff volunteers to answer questions from students about navigating campus. Volunteers will be stationed at information tables around campus throughout the week.
Questions about volunteering for any of these activities can be directed to Erin Mahn at erinmahn@boisestate.edu.
A number of campus traditions will include invitations to the rising sophomore class, as they may not have experienced them in their first year due to the pandemic. This includes Convocation and a special B on the Blue event just for sophomores and their families during Parent and Family Weekend in October.
