Emily Wakild, a professor of history and director of Environmental Studies in the School of Public Service, participated in a book launch for the Spanish translation of her book on the history of Mexico’s National Parks, “Parques Revolucionarios:Conservación, justicia social y parques nacionales en México, 1910-1940.”
In addition to the author, the panel included María Louisa Albores, the secretary of Mexico’s Ministry of the Environment, a cabinet-level position; Ecologist Gonzalo Halffter, of Inecol – Instituto de Ecología, and Ernesto Herrera of Reforestamos, Mexico, an NGO working towards local dialogue over forestry. Several national park directors and public servants attended the panel.
