As Boise State University officially welcomes faculty, staff and students back to campus, a variety of volunteers are needed to help set the tone for a safe, healthy and productive semester on campus. Volunteer opportunities include Bronco Welcome greeters, move-in volunteers and campus safety ambassadors.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to connect with their supervisors for approval before registering for a volunteer role. More details on each of these opportunities is below.
Move-In Days Aug. 18-20
Boise State is recruiting volunteers to help create a welcoming atmosphere as students return to campus. Move-in volunteers are needed for three-hour-and-15-minute shifts Aug. 18-20. Volunteers will be asked to greet and provide information, paperwork and directions to residents and their guests.
Everyone will be required to wear a facial covering and follow health and safety guidelines. Visit the Bronco Impacts events page to register as a volunteer.
Bronco Welcome Aug. 24-27
The university’s signature event for new and returning students is recruiting volunteers for one-hour shifts to greet students during the first week of class. Friendly faculty and staff volunteers will answer questions from students about navigating the campus and hand out health and safety items.
Volunteers will be stationed around campus throughout the week. Visit the Bronco Impacts events page to register to volunteer.
Safety Ambassadors Aug. 24-Sept. 18
The Department of Public Safety is looking for Boise State employees to serve as safety ambassadors for new and returning students for one-hour shifts during the first few weeks of the semester (and possibly longer).
In an effort to prevent outbreaks, support the campus community, and ensure facial covering and physical distancing compliance, safety ambassadors will be stationed at key entrances to classroom and student-centered buildings.
They will greet students and provide reminders of university COVID-19 regulations, as well as offer general assistance. This role is separate from general volunteers sought to help with Bronco Welcome, as these individuals will be focused more on safety in campus buildings and classrooms.
Ideal candidates will have good communication skills, enjoy working with people (especially students) and solving problems. A brief training will be provided, along with masks and other items to hand out to those in need.
Safety ambassadors have the option of signing up for reoccurring time slots. Visit the Bronco Impacts events page to register as an ambassador.
