The latest round of college rankings from U.S. News and World Report lists the College of Business and Economics’ online Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) at #87 out of 174 programs. The program, now in its third year, jumped from #104 a year ago.
“I am excited but not surprised to see it move in the rankings this year, and I expect it to continue to rise substantially,” said Mark Bannister, dean of the college. “It fits a very important Idaho and national market need.”
The online MSA provides graduate education for individuals seeking to enhance their professional competence in accountancy. Students advance their previously acquired knowledge and skills through a focus on providing value-added services to their clients and employers. The program’s curriculum – which can be completed in as few as 12 months if enrolled full-time and 22 months if enrolled part-time – is designed to prepare students to successfully complete the CPA exam, while the advanced coursework addresses the challenges of a public accounting career.
Also included in the 2020 rankings is Boise State’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the rank of #69 out of 321. According to the report, Boise State ranks in the top 20 percent of MBA programs who submitted the survey, third-best in the Pacific Northwest, and 10th in western states when compared to other regional programs.
“In the extremely competitive world of distance learning MBA offerings, Boise State continues to stand out as a leader regionally and nationally,” Bannister said. “This program continues to grow rapidly and reaches all corners of Idaho.”
While the new emphasis areas of construction management and healthcare leadership address important regional economic needs, enrollment numbers for the online MBA are increasing each year, as is military enrollment.
