Extended Studies wins marketing award from continuing education association

Boise State University’s Division of Extended Studies earned a silver award for excellence in marketing in early December at the University Professional and Continuing Education Association’s 2019 marketing and enrollment management seminar held in New Orleans.

The award was for a mixed media campaign, titled “Resolutions of an Online Student – Build A Better Toolkit,” which launched in December 2018 on the @BoiseStateOnline social media platforms. The extended studies marketing and communications team, then comprising Kelci Lucier, Kate Watson, Lane Donovan, Doug Kessinger, Matt Shifley, Arlie Sommer and Katelyn Taylor, created a series of playful stop-motion videos with resolutions and tips for students to be successful in an online learning environment. The videos also highlighted resources available at Boise State. The videos directed prospective students to a landing page where they could learn more about resources, explore all of Boise State’s online programs and download an online student toolkit.

Taylor, an extended studies senior communications coordinator, along with student success coach Heather Ropelato and student recruitment manager Alison Bellais also presented at the seminar. Their presentation, “Just Do It – Together! The Online Info Session,” focused on the process and value of offering a free, 30-minute, live online information session during which the enrollment and student success team answers questions, dives deep into program benefits and mechanics, and puts a friendly face to the overwhelming process of applying to college as an online student.
