Larry McNeil, a professor of photography in the Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies, will give a talk, “Fly by Night Mythology,” as a visiting artist at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York, on Sept. 12.

The George Eastman Museum “is one of the great American Museums and one of the few that is dedicated to photography and filmmaking,” said McNeil.

“I wish we could bring our students there because it’s one of the most prominent museums of photography in the world, a fantastic place to see many of the photographs made by the best photographers since the inception of photography. When one of their curators asked me to write a short paragraph about my lecture as a visiting artist I wrote, ‘My work reinforces the idea that photography may strive to embody relevance, meaning and, hopefully, a sense of grace, inspiring positive change in times of need.'”
