The campus community is invited to celebrate Jack Vant’s retirement at a reception from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in the Student Union Building Farnsworth Room. Refreshments will be provided. After 4 p.m., the campus community is invited to join him at an off-campus social gathering at Payette Brewing (733 S Pioneer Street).
Vant is retiring after a long and diverse career at Boise State University. In 1987, Vant began teaching English composition courses, which led to him providing IT support for the English department and later for the College of Education.
In 1993, Vant joined the Office of Information Technology as a system engineer. He held various roles providing support and administration for a range of systems including Novell, IBM’s AIX operating system, and Peoplesoft. More recently, Vant worked in Research Computing and in 2016, he joined Learning Technology Solutions in his current role as a senior instructional technologist.
Vant has been instrumental to the success of countless projects and initiatives due to his ability to understand complex systems. He has led the support, evaluation and change management for several campus multimedia and instructional systems. Vant will be greatly missed, especially for his “Columbo-esque” way of discovering problems and solutions.
