Mark Cowan, professor of accountancy, has been awarded the COBE Distinguished Teaching Professorship. He will serve in this role for the next two academic years. Cowan’s quality instruction was well established in his nomination packet. Troy Hyatt, chair of the Department of accountancy supported Cowan’s award.
“Mark receives a string of nearly perfect scores and glowing comments on student evaluations,” said Hyatt. “When I conduct one-on-one exit interviews with our master of accountancy students, I ask ‘Which of your graduate courses did you like the best?’ and ‘Which faculty members have had a positive influence on you?’ Almost without exception, if a student took a course from Mark, that course is the first one they mention and Mark is the first professor they mention.”
