The 18th annual Interaction Design and Children (IDC) conference will be held June 12-15 in Boise. The international conference encourages research on the design, development and use of interactive technologies for children. Ambitious and idea-driven researchers, designers and educators from across the globe will gather to share and discuss ideas related to this year’s theme: live healthy.
Jerry Alan Fails, an associate professor in Boise State’s computer science department, is the general chair for the conference. Boise State faculty who have research in interaction design and children are invited to apply to present at the conference.
Boise State also will host an informal reception where posters of related research performed at Boise State can be presented. Those interested in participating in the Boise State poster reception are asked to complete this form: https://goo.gl/forms/JnKNqWL57H0BWwed2.
“Hosting the 18th ACM conference on Interaction Design and Children in Boise will continue to raise the visibility of Boise State University on a global level,” Fails said. “We look forward to showing the world some of the great things happening here in Boise, and as such encourage you to participate.”
IDC is an Association for Computing and Machinery (ACM) conference. Environments like Scratch and Scratch Junior first were presented at the IDC conference. Many tangible interfaces, 3D printing and the maker culture have been promulgated via IDC. The international conference has been organized and held at Stanford University, Manchester’s MediaCityUK, the MIT Media Lab and Denmark’s Aarhus University.
