Arvin Farid, a professor of civil engineering, organized and chaired the international American Society of Civil Engineers conference, Geo-Environ-Meet 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, March 2-5, 2025.
The theme of the conference was sustainability and resilience of the geoenvironment in facing a changing climate, and centered around the reciprocal impacts of climate policy, practice and change on the geoenvironment with a focus on identifying challenges and solutions.

This conference is held once every eight years to disseminate the latest advancements in geoenvironmental engineering. The event promotes networking while sharing knowledge of the latest advances in energy, sustainability and resilience frameworks and guidelines, as well as the opportunity for regulators, practitioners and researchers to share insights and innovative ideas on climate-change impacts on the geoenvironment.
In addition to organizing and chairing the conference, Farid also presented a lecture titled “Beyond Geophysics: Electromagnetic Waves for Geoenvironmental Applications.”
