Faculty members Rebecca Som Castellano and Lisa Meierotto recently traveled with student and research assistant Alice Mwamba to Portland, Oregon, where the team presented initial findings of their research project on sustainable agriculture and farmers.
The meeting, an annual gathering for the Society for Applied Anthropology, featured a session where Mwamba presented a poster titled “Rooted Resilience: Global Gardens and Sustainable Agriculture.” The poster, designed by Mwamba and fellow research assistant Maci Mattravers, showcases early findings from the research project “Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Communities: A Study of the Social, Ecological, and Economic Factors Shaping Experiences of Global Gardens Farmers,” funded through the Boise State Grand Challenges from the Division of Research and Economic Development.
