Gómez-Navarro discusses immersive tech as teaching tool at Stanford series

Manuel Gómez-Navarro, lecturer in the Department of World Languages, was recently invited to speak at the Stanford World Language Project’s Speaker Series on World Languages and Technology. His presentation, “Active Learning: Integrating Immersive Technologies in Spanish Teaching,” explored the innovative use of virtual reality, interactive storytelling and multimedia elements to enrich the study of Hispanic literature and culture. Gómez-Navarro highlighted a range of creative strategies for designing dynamic, student-centered learning experiences that harness the power of immersive technologies.

The session provided attendees with practical insights into the pedagogical foundations and methodological frameworks that support the effective integration of these tools in the language classroom. By emphasizing curricular innovation, Gómez-Navarro demonstrated how immersive technology can align instruction with the needs and preferences of today’s learners, encouraging critical thinking and fostering deeper cultural engagement.
