Lowenthal receives digital learning research award

Patrick Lowenthal, professor in educational leadership, research and technology, is the recipient of the Innovate 2025: Karen J. Swan Online Learning Journal Outstanding Research Award in Digital Learning.

According to the honor’s presenter the Online Learning Consortium, the award recognizes “Lowenthal’s research on online communication, social presence, identity, and community, (has) made a significant impact on the field, with over 9,000 citations. As a longtime member of the Online Learning Journal Editorial Board, his contributions have been invaluable in advancing digital learning research.”
