Boise State’s School of Public Service welcomed former members of Congress Erik Paulsen and Peter DeFazio to campus this week. Paulsen and DeFazio attended four classes and were present at several events talking with students and answering their questions.

Erik Paulsen represented Minnesota’s Third Congressional District from 2009–2019, serving as a leading member on the chief tax writing House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care, economic and trade policy. He also served as chair and co-chairman of several committees, notably the Joint Economic Committee, during his time as a member of Congress.
Peter DeFazio served for 36 years as the U.S. Representative for Oregon’s Fourth Congressional District, making him the longest-serving member of Congress in Oregon history. He is known as the “Tiger for the House” for his leadership on transportation, infrastructure, the environment and progressive issues.
