Boise State’s College of Business and Economics recently awarded their Distinguished Research Professorship to Liam Maher, associate professor in the Department of Management.

The COBE Distinguished Research Professorship recognizes faculty who have done outstanding research. To receive the award, a faculty member must have shown a strong record of research that goes far beyond the normal expectations of their job over the last five years.

Maher was nominated by Department of Management Associate Professors Shaunn Mattingly and Timothy Dunne, and Department Chair Karen Nicholas.

“Dr. Maher’s research is distinguished by its depth and impact, addressing some of the most pressing issues in organizational behavior. His focus on organizational politics, political skill, and leadership dynamics provides critical insights into how individuals navigate workplace challenges. His work not only expands theoretical discourse but also offers actionable guidance to employees and leaders, fostering environments that enhance job satisfaction, reduce stress, and promote professional fulfillment,” Nicholas said. “Beyond his impressive research portfolio, Dr. Maher is deeply committed to mentorship and service to the academic community. His dedication to developing future scholars is evident in his role in guiding students toward doctoral and master’s programs, where his mentorship has shaped the next generation of researchers.”

Maher’s role will begin in July 2025 and will run through June 2027.
