Jane Shimon, professor and co-K-12 Physical Education and Health Program coordinator in the School of Kinesiology, is publishing a third edition of “Introduction to Teaching Physical Education: Principles and Strategies.”

The first edition of the textbook was published in 2011, followed by its second edition in 2019.
Shimon said that in addition to updated material, the new edition contains teaching tips from national and district level physical education teachers of the year, a video interview, as well as an array of online support activities for both teachers and students. The textbook will also contain traditional chapters, PowerPoint slides and tests.
“I felt honored to receive the request to write a third edition,” Shimon said. The newest edition will be available sometime in April 2025.
