The spring 2025 speaker is Danielle Allen who will present “Educating for American Democracy.”

Allen is currently the James Bryant Conant University Professor and Director of the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center. She also co-chaired the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship, formed to explore how best to respond to the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in political and civic life.

Allen’s talk will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18, 2025, in the Student Union Building’s Jordan Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.  Tickets are not required.

Engagement Fair

As part of the Distinguished Lecture Series, the Institute for Advancing American Values will host a civic engagement fair in the Student Union. After Allen concludes her remarks and the question and answer session with the audience is finished, the Civic Engagement Fair will be open for 45 minutes for the public to visit with representatives of organizations seeking to recruit volunteers and members.
