The School for the Digital Future invites applications for a small cohort of faculty and staff to collaboratively plan, design and implement a 3-day AI Institute to be held in summer 2025. The institute will equip faculty with the skills and knowledge to integrate generative AI tools critically and strategically into their teaching practices.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):
- Ethics and AI
- AI/digital literacies
- Human-centered AI mindset / AI pedagogy
- AI as a thought partner in teaching
- AI as a thought partner in learning
The planning team will design and facilitate this institute, ensuring it provides practical strategies, meaningful discussion and capacity for faculty to identify, evaluate and integrate AI for their upcoming courses in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Planning Team Details
Stipend for Participation (Planning Team): $1,000 per faculty member
Time Commitment: Approximately 5 hours per week including:
- Cohort meetings every other week (beginning end of February)
- Individual work on planning and design
- One intensive planning day in the summer & ahead of the institute
- Facilitation of the 3-day AI Summer Institute (held in May)
Eligibility and Application Process
Faculty and staff from all disciplines/units are encouraged to apply.
Submit a letter of interest (no more than one page) that includes:
- Applicant’s experience with AI in teaching, learning or other contexts.
- How applicant’s disciplinary lens or expertise would meaningfully contribute to this initiative
- Applicants should describe a topic on AI that excites them and a concrete discussion, activity or idea they could bring to the team
Submission Details
Letters of interest are due by Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025 and will be reviewed by a committee. Notifications will be shared by Friday, Feb. 21.
