Boise State adjusts 2025 winter break closure dates

Boise State has adjusted the dates of the 2025 winter break closures. The university will now be closed from Dec. 24, 2025, to Jan. 1, 2026. Previously, the closure dates were scheduled for Dec. 22-26 and Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, 2026.

“HR worked with academics and campus operations to ensure all interests were considered,” said Annie Hightower, interim chief human resources officer. “A continuous break is the ideal scenario for employees and to conserve energy in university buildings.”

Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1 are paid holidays for benefit-eligible employees. Classified and professional staff who do not work during the break will need to use vacation leave for the three days that are not official holidays.

Employees are advised to reserve their leave balances to ensure they have enough leave to cover the winter holiday closures. For more details, visit the payroll website.
