As part of the Next Frontier Program, the Business Intelligence Reporting Services team has successfully transitioned their on-premise Oracle data warehouse to Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, a high-performance cloud solution. This upgrade took place in November and brings several enhancements designed to improve the reporting experience, including:
- Improved Performance: Reports in Oracle Analytics Cloud will run faster, thanks to optimized back-end data processing and enhanced system performance.
- Usage Insights: With Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, the Business Intelligence Reporting Services team can now access detailed usage statistics for Oracle Analytics Cloud reports. This includes identifying frequently or rarely used reports, tracking individual report usage, spotting errors and addressing performance issues.
- Proactive Support: These insights enable the Business Intelligence Reporting Services team to engage with users proactively, offering support and assistance when needed, ensuring a smoother reporting experience.
- Enhanced Responsiveness: The move gives the BIRS team greater control over the database’s performance, allowing faster and more effective responses to infrastructure needs.
These upgrades mark an important step forward in improving Boise State’s data and analytics capabilities. The Next Frontier Program looks forward to more effectively supporting reporting needs and ensuring a seamless experience as tool and infrastructure enhancements continue.
