Boise State University’s Idaho Policy Institute (IPI) was selected as the evaluator of a $6.6 million grant from the United States Treasury’s Social Impact Partnerships to Pay for Results Act (SIPPRA) program, which will result in a $1 million award for the university. The grant was awarded to the City of Boise and will be used to bolster access to housing in the Boise community, through the building of 143 new housing units for citizens overcoming housing instability. The project is called the Permanent Supportive Housing Pipeline, and the evaluation marks the largest sponsored project award in IPI’s history.
In a press release published by the City of Boise, Mayor McLean stated, “We are excited to leverage this opportunity from the U.S. Treasury supporting our efforts to make sure that every resident has a home here in Boise.”
Boise is one of just six communities in the U.S., and the only city in the western United States to be awarded. “This project is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing one of our region’s most critical challenges,” said Vanessa Fry, director of the Idaho Policy Institute and lead investigator for the evaluation. “We are proud to partner with the City of Boise and other stakeholders to deliver meaningful insights and help create sustainable solutions for housing insecurity in our community.”
In order to measure the results of the grant, IPI will evaluate cost savings to local, state and federal governments, and improvements to residents’ health and well-being. To learn more about the Idaho Policy Institute, contact Vanessa Fry at vanessafry@boisestate.edu.
