Julie Heath (Master of Science in Raptor Biology, ’96), interim director of the Raptor Research Center, and other Boise State University alumni recently attended the 15th Wind Wildlife Meeting hosted by the Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute in Corpus Christi, Texas, from Nov. 11-15, 2024. Heath presented a talk on compensatory mitigation solutions for golden eagles.
Also in attendance at the meeting were alumni of the Master of Science in Raptor Biology program Eric Hallingstad (’08), Matthew Stuber (’15), and Erin Strasser (’10). Master of Science in Biology alum Katie Powell (née Busscher, ’09) attended as well. These alumni all work in U.S. industry and federal agencies. Stuber, Strasser and Powell work for the Migratory Birds program at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
This impressive Boise State alumni representation underscores the impact and importance of the university’s masters programs in shaping the next generation of leaders dedicated to advancing wildlife conservation alongside renewable energy development.
