As winter approaches and to prepare for associated adjustments to campus schedules, please be aware of how the university handles inclement weather.
Although the university never fully closes to accommodate students, events and services, one of the following options may be determined in the event of severe weather:
- Normal operation: Continue normal campus activities.
- Partial campus closure: Close some of campus services for the day.
- Delayed opening: Campus opens later than usual.
- Early closure: Campus closes some or all of campus services early.
Weather unpredictability may impact alert timing.
Campus alerts about closures, delays or operational changes
- Emergency alerts: BroncoAlerts will be sent via text and email.
- Website: Updates will be posted to Boise State’s homepage.
- Social Media: Follow Boise State on Facebook, Instagram and X for updates.
If the university has not announced a closure or delay as described above, the campus remains fully open.
What should students and employees do during closures?
- Some employees may be required to report to work on campus. Check with your supervisor for specific instructions.
- Vice presidents will determine critical business functions and work attendance requirements for their divisions, including remote work options.
- Face-to-face classes may be canceled or moved online at the instructor’s discretion.
- Remote classes will be held as usual. Asynchronous online courses continue without interruption.
- Student employees should consult with their supervisor.
Travel to and from campus
Exercise caution and prioritize safety. If unable to safely commute, employees should contact their supervisor to discuss options like using vacation time or working remotely.
When do partial closures end?
Campus closures remain in effect from the time the campus is officially closed until midnight unless a different schedule is announced.
