A new candy bar is now available in participating retail stores throughout the Treasure Valley and online through a collaboration between Boise State University and the Idaho Candy Company. Proceeds will benefit the university.
Bronco Bites are a candy that starts with creamy caramel deposited on top of fresh dry roasted peanuts, coated with premium milk chocolate and topped with blue, orange and white candies.
“As a long-time Boise company, we are thrilled to partner with Boise State University in developing a unique and delicious treat for our customers and Bronco fans, while also providing an avenue for us to give back to our community,” said Dave Wagers, Idaho Candy Company president.
In addition to Bronco Bites, the company has also created Bronco Burnt Peanuts. A candy that features fresh roasted peanuts layered with a vanilla-flavored coating in blue and orange colors with a nostalgic, bumpy style. Bronco Burnt Peanuts are made in small batches in old copper candy pans at the Boise plant.
Both Bronco Bites and Bronco Burnt Peanuts are available at participating retail stores, the Bronco Shop and in person or online at the Idaho Candy Company.
Since 1901, Idaho Candy Company has brought candy lovers two of the best known treats in the Gem State: Idaho Spud Bar and Cherry Cocktail Bar. Today, the Idaho Candy Company is owned by the Wagers family. John Wagers, grew up in Nampa, Idaho, and bought the company in 1984, after having been a local accountant for over 20 years. Dave Wagers, his son, now serves as President. The company still makes its famous Idaho Spud Bars and Owyhee Butter Toffee, in addition to about 20 different kinds of bulk candies, all in the same factory located at 412 S. 8th Street in Boise.
