Celebrate Homecoming, Parent and Family Weekend and 50 years of Buster Bronco Sept. 30-Oct. 6

Boise State Broncos will celebrate Homecoming and Parent and Family Weekend — along with the 50th anniversary of Buster Bronco — Sept. 30-Oct. 6, 2024.

The annual Homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Brady Street, travel along Cesar Chavez Lane and end in the West Stadium parking lot. Find a spot along the Greenbelt for a great view of floats, classic cars and more. Parking is open across campus with the exception of the parking lot between Brady Parking Garage and the Morrison Center.

Plan to stay for the pep rally at Intramural Field immediately following the parade and get hyped and ready for the following day’s big game with music, face-painting, prize giveaways and more. Boise State coaches, football players, the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band and the Boise State Spirit Squad will be there.

The university is also celebrating 50 years of Buster Bronco, Boise State’s beloved mascot. A special event will be held from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Scheels sporting goods store, 700 S. Wayfinder Ave. in Meridian, bringing together alumni who have worn the Buster Bronco costume over the past 50 years. A $30 ticket includes a mini Buster Bronco, a t-shirt, lunch at Scheels, and a drink ticket for the tailgate party.

Parent and Family Weekend is a weekend full of opportunities for Bronco families to spend quality time together. Signature events include a welcome, a football game with a discount for family guests and an opportunity to connect with university leadership. See all the events and more details on the Bronco Families website.

Enter Bronco spirit contests all week to win prizes for best dressed future Bronco, best Buster photo, best dressed pet, best campus memory, tailgating photo and more.

The annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Stueckle Sky Center. All are welcome for this inspirational evening of celebrating alumni changing the world in their chosen fields and personal endeavors.

All are also welcome to attend the free Homecoming and Parent and Family Tailgate Party beginning three hours prior to kick-off at the Boise State Alumni and Friends Center, 1173 University Drive in Boise, on Saturday, Oct 5. Enjoy music, photo booths, Bronco prizes and more.
