Lisa Meierotto, an associate professor in the School of Public Service, was interviewed by the Idaho Statesman about immigration fears and rhetoric surrounding a current issue in Eagle, Idaho.
In the article – “‘Necessary’ or harmful? Emails show anti-immigrant fear shaped Eagle’s nonsanctuary move” – Meierotto discusses three harmful perceptions of immigrants: that they take jobs and social services, that they bring more crime, and they create a demographic change to the country.
“The things that we are hearing right now, these perceptions of immigrants, are just really bad politically motivated misinformation,” she said in the article.
