The Boise State Campus Food Pantry will be the recipient of the 2024 KBOI-2 News and Western Idaho Fair opening day food drive from noon-4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16. Anyone who brings a food donation to the fair will receive free entry. The event will help stock the pantry before the fall semester begins.
The Campus Food Pantry is seeking volunteers from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. to help greet fair patrons, collect food donations, answer questions about the pantry, and help load or unload donations. Two-hour volunteer shifts are available both at the Western Idaho Fairgrounds and at Boise State.

The Campus Food Pantry is a choice-style pantry providing free food and hygiene products to students. The pantry saw over 18,000 visits in the Spring 2024 semester alone. The program relies heavily on community donations and the support of volunteers.
Those who cannot make it to the fair can still donate to the Campus Food Pantry through Boise State Giving.
A student testimony reads: “The food pantry has been a critical support for me throughout my time at Boise State. With rent, tuition, textbooks, car payments and other necessities, it’s difficult to find any money left for groceries. Without the food pantry, I might not have been able to continue pursuing my education, which would be a big setback for my career and life goals. Thank you!”
