With the fall semester on the horizon, preparations are underway for Bronco Welcome, starting Aug. 15. Mark your calendar, consider volunteering or hosting an event to create a welcoming atmosphere for incoming students.
Host an event
Staff in the departments that want to host welcome activities should complete a Bronco Welcome event form. This year Bronco Welcome has expanded and will elevate student-facing events throughout the first five weeks of the semester, providing community building and opportunities. Campus Groups (replacing Engage) will host event details and the Bronco Welcome website.
Volunteer opportunities
-
- Residence hall move-in: Move-in will take place on Aug. 15-16. Volunteers will greet students and their families, answer questions, assist with wayfinding and help students move into residence halls. This is a great opportunity to showcase what it means to be part of the Bronco community.
- Convocation: Convocation is the official academic welcome to the university for new students starting at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 in ExtraMile Arena.
- B on the Blue: This annual photograph of students and their families inside Albertsons Stadium will immediately follow Convocation. Volunteers are needed to create a “spirit tunnel” welcoming guests onto the Blue and to direct guests into the formation of the Boise State “B.”
- Info tables: Faculty and staff volunteers are needed to provide a friendly face and answer questions from students about navigating campus. Volunteers will be stationed at information tables around campus throughout the week.
Volunteers must connect with their supervisor for approval before registering.
