Several School of Public and Population Health students, alumni and faculty members presented at the Idaho’s Health Priorities Conference. The inaugural conference brought together health care organizations, public health advocates, government members, academics and Idaho leaders to discuss ways to “improve population health through strategic alliances and elevating the voices of disproportionately affected communities.”
Boise State Presenters
- Adrian Rodriguez, a Master of Public Health student, presented “Engaging Hispanic Communities in Public Health Programming: Success and Barriers Identified by Public Health Professionals.” Rodriguez was supported on this project by School of Public and Population Health Assistant Professor Taylor Neher.
- Edwina French, a research associate and recent Master of Public Health graduate, and Jennifer Nguyen, a graduate research assistant and Master of Public Health student, presented: “Empowering Idaho’s Kincare Families Impacted by Substance Use Disorder: Navigating Unique Challenges and Enhancing Supports.” Toevs also supported this research.
- Mac McCullough, School of Public and Population Health Associate Professor and Associate Director for Community Engagement and Impact, presented a keynote: “Improving Population Health through Strategic Partnerships” alongside School of Public and Population Health Affiliate Faculty Member Traci Berreth.
- Ashley Harris, Master of Public Health graduate, presented: “Understanding Connections Between Public Health Districts and Individuals who have Recently Been Released from Carceral Systems in the State of Idaho.” Professor Sarah Toevs, Assistant Professor Taylor Neher and Clinical Assistant Professor Desmond Banks helped support this research.
- Sheila Weaver, Center for Study of Aging Lead Navigator and Program Coordinator, and Boise State alum, presented: “Helping the Helpers: Navigating Compassion Fatigue in Caregiving.”
