The College of Health Sciences’ online Master in Population and Health Systems Management was awarded two back-to-back awards from its accrediting body. Program Director Jenni Gudapati accepted the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education Canon Solutions America Award for Sustainability in Healthcare Management in Chicago at the 2024 American College of Healthcare Executives Congress.
The Master in Population and Health Systems Management program is the only program in the country to win consecutive awards from the commission. Last year the program won the 2023 Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education George and Regina Herzlinger Innovation Education Award. The 2023 award focused on the program’s dedication to implement innovation within the curriculum.
This year the sustainability in healthcare management award spotlights the dedication to sustainability the Boise State program offers. This award acknowledges educational institutions that have created programs that support sustainability goals and resonate with Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei: “all people, regardless of race, religion, or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future for the common good.”
“I am truly proud, humbled, and excited that our Master in Population and Health Systems Management Degree was chosen as this year’s CAHME Canon Solutions America Award for Sustainability in Healthcare Management,” said Gudapati. “I am still in shock and just feel so lucky to have such amazing faculty and guest lecturers. It has truly been an amazing journey as we figured out how to navigate industry-based lessons into higher education curriculum, with the result being a unique opportunity presented to our students in which they learn from the top global experts in their fields.”
What makes the program unique?
The Master in Population and Health Systems Management is a collaborative partnership between Boise State and industry partner Healthcare Financial Management Association which aims to teach the evolving demands within healthcare.
The degree was designed to capture a complete view of healthcare’s transitioning from traditional fee-for-service models to value-based and alternative payment models. The program integrates clinical, operational and financial aspects crucial for modern healthcare delivery. Classes are taught by professionals and guest lecturers from over 80 global experts in value-based healthcare. On top of earning a master’s degree, graduates receive four industry-recognized certifications from the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
