Christopher Innes, adjunct faculty in the Department of Philosophy, received the David Sokol Area Chair Award from the Popular Culture Association at the group’s national conference. Innes was recognized for his service as chair of Philosophy and Popular Culture.
The Popular Culture Association chose Innes for the award in part for his ingenuity in creating new panel topics for the group’s conference. Including panels on television, comics and other pop culture topics that engaged conference-goers.
Innes’s scholarly interests are related to philosophy and pop culture. He is a contributor to the Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, which makes philosophical concepts more accessible through the lens of popular media like the Indiana Jones films. He has also contributed to the volumes “Blade Runner 2049 and Philosophy” and “Westworld in Philosophy.”
