Emily Wakild, Cecil D. Andrus Endowed Chair for the Environment and Public Lands, delivered a two-day workshop on environmental pedagogy to new faculty members at the History of Science Society meeting in Portland, Oregon. She worked with scholars from North Carolina State University, the University of Maryland, and the University of the Andes in Bogota, Colombia to help scholars integrate the environment into their teaching practice.
Part of a larger National Science Foundation project, RECSLAC, is building a network of scholars across the hemisphere working on environmental ideas, especially around the environment, science and technology. Nearly a dozen scholars participated, largely recently-graduated doctors and senior scholars looking to redesign their teaching to include more environmental topics.
Wakild will lead the workshop in Denver again in April 2024.
