School of Public and Population Health Associate Professor Cynthia Curl was recently quoted in a Wall Street Journal article about the potential illnesses linked to pesticide exposure for those working in or living near fields where pesticides are applied.
Having published multiple studies on the topic, Curl shared that exposure to some pesticides has been linked to respiratory problems, neurological disorders and some cancers. The article cited Curl’s 2020 study: “Synthetic Pesticides and Health in Vulnerable Populations: Agricultural Workers,” which included two former students.
Curl is also the director of Boise State University’s Agricultural Health Lab.
