Shari Ellertson, senior executive director of Institutional Effectiveness, and Teresa Focarile, associate director for educational development in the Center for Teaching and Learning, presented at the 2023 Assessment Institute hosted by Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Their session, “Examining the Impacts of Assessment Peer Review Participation on Instructional Practices,” focused on the benefits for faculty who served as Program Assessment Report peer reviewers. Ellertson and Focarile presented initial findings of their focus group interviews with the report reviewers and engaged participants in a discussion about the benefits of faculty engagement as peer reviewers for assessment.
The peer review process has been a cornerstone of Boise State’s program assessment since it was implemented in 2015-16. Over 70 faculty and staff have served in the role, with approximately one-third of the reviewers serving for more than one year.
