Alicia Estey, Chief Financial and Operating Officer, recently named Annie Hightower an Associate Vice President for Finance and Operations. In this capacity, Hightower will guide key operations and projects for the division, including supporting the Department of Public Safety, the Children’s Center, Public Health, Risk Management, Art Collections, Policy, Conflicts of Interest, and other administrative units and functions, as necessary. She will collaborate with divisional leadership to ensure ongoing alignment with Blueprint for Success goals while mitigating organizational risk and upholding the intuition’s integrity and reputation.
Hightower has served in multiple roles at Boise State, most recently as Interim Associate Vice President of Human Resources. Between 2013 and 2017, she served as the Director of Title IX/ADA/504 Compliance, and briefly Associate General Counsel. During that time, Hightower was responsible for university compliance with state and federal laws and regulations relating to sex and gender-based discrimination. She facilitated student, faculty, and staff training to advance Boise State’s commitment to provide an environment free from unlawful discrimination and harassment.
From 2017-2021, Hightower was the Director of Law and Policy for the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence where she managed compliance work, advocated for policy changes at the federal, state, and local level, provided civil legal services, and developed and delivered training on issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2021 Hightower returned to Boise State as the Director of Institutional Compliance and Ethics.
Hightower holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Boise State and a Juris Doctor from the Gonzaga University School of Law.
