Matt Smith is the new Assistant Vice President, Research Enterprise Services, Boise State University’s Division of Research and Economic Development (DRED) announced. Smith most recently served as Interim Associate Vice President of Sponsored Programs and assumes the responsibilities of the new position effective immediately.
“We are so lucky to work with Matt, and I am forever grateful for his tireless work on behalf of research and creative activity across campus,” said Vice President for Research and Economic Development Nancy Glenn. “Matt is committed to our objective of operationalizing and scaling research support infrastructure and I look forward to working with him to achieve this objective and to enhance research enterprise services, including within sponsored projects and systems for campus.”
The expanded responsibilities of Smith’s position underscore the division’s focus on streamlining processes and creating new opportunities to further improve service to the campus research community.

Smith holds Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees and has worked for Boise State since 2014, starting as a contracts officer in the Office of Sponsored Programs. He recently completed an Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) fellowship in which he benchmarked processes at numerous research institutions and gained insight into research operations.
