The campus community is invited to attend an update titled “Legislature 101” with Andrew Mitzel, director of government relations. The Zoom webinar will begin at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Participants will receive a confirmation email with information about attending the webinar after registering.
Mitzel plans to host additional updates during the legislative session: on Feb. 1, March 1 and April 12 (rescheduled from April 5). These updates will also be hosted on Zoom and participants must register in advance.

This will be Mitzel’s second legislative session with Boise State and the eleventh in his career in politics. During this legislative session, there will be numerous changes in legislative leadership, committee chairs and committee members, as well as constitutional officers at the statewide level. This webinar will preview these changes and what may be coming up this legislative session.
Mitzel served as a senior advisor to Idaho Governor Brad Little prior to coming to Boise State. During his tenure, Mitzel advised the governor and chief of staff on all areas of local, state and national politics; served as a policy advisor assigned to transportation, tax and real estate; reviewed and processed all legislative bills with the governor and chief of staff; and was charged with overseeing the 2020 Idaho Census Committee.
Prior to his time in the governor’s office, Mitzel served as deputy campaign manager and field director for Governor Little, political director for the Idaho Association of Realtors, and staff assistant for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo. Mitzel is a two-time Boise State alum receiving a master’s degree in community and regional planning and a bachelor’s degree in history.
