Patrick “Tod” Colegrove, dean of Albertsons Library, has published a textbook addressing how academic libraries can succeed when makerspaces, collection-development and outreach professionals align their messaging. Selecting and Implementing Technologies in Libraries, A Primer is written primarily for library and information science students. It is also a valuable resource for library practitioners in public, academic and special libraries.
The guide provides a framework to overlap design-thinking with best practices in emerging technology and librarianship. New technology and services are fundamental to maintaining the relevance of today’s libraries, Colegrove says, and the book addresses which ones make sense to implement, and which to avoid.
