David Johnston will join Boise State as the new associate vice president for alumni and constituent engagement. Johnston comes to the university from his current role as senior vice president of strategic communications with the Kansas University Alumni Association.
Johnston brings more than 15 years of experience in strategic alumni and constituent engagement. Most recently he served as a member of the association’s senior leadership team, working closely with the president and board to oversee brand, content,
marketing and engagement strategies for more than 350,000 Kansas University alumni.
Johnston will begin his role on Monday, Nov. 7, where he will lead the alumni, annual giving and communications teams.
“I have always admired the bold vision, spirit of innovation and passion that unites the university community, alumni and friends at Boise State,” Johnston said.
Johnston’s experience includes roles as an instructor in the Leadership Studies Institute and the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas University.
“David’s extensive experience in strategic marketing and alumni engagement experience will enhance our upcoming comprehensive campaign while reinforcing our commitment to creating the best culture of philanthropy of any public university in the country,” said Matthew Ewing, vice president for University Advancement.
