Brian Emtman will lead the newly created Energy and Utilities department within Facilities Operations and Maintenance as the director of energy and utilities. Reporting to the executive director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance, and in collaboration with Campus Operations and colleagues across campus, this unit will manage the energy performance of university properties, advocate for improvements to campus infrastructure, administer campus building automation systems, coordinate with internal and external partners to track campus utilities, and provide technical expertise during design and construction projects involving facilities systems.
Emtman, who previously served as university energy manager, will maintain a continued focus on initiatives that drive energy efficiency, utility cost savings, and greenhouse gas reduction. He will also oversee the creation and implementation of a strategic energy management program, and guide energy infrastructure strategy to ensure alignment with the university’s sustainability objectives.
