Assistant professor of legal studies Jeff Lingwall was named one of Idaho Business Review’s Accomplished Under 40 list for 2022.
Each year, Idaho Business Review accepts nominations of business professionals in Idaho who are under the age of 40. They look at qualities like professional achievement, leadership, mentorship and community service and recognize the top 40 nominees.
In his role, Lingwall helps students engage with complex and seeks to overcome challenges to the learning process. For example, after hearing how much students had to pay for their textbooks, he created a free introductory business law textbook to make his classes more accessible.
Lingwall is also responsible for a substantial and diverse body of research in his field. His work focuses on the relationship between statistical and economic principles and the law. He has published articles about compulsory attendance laws, blockchain-based contracts and the laws surrounding COVID dashboards.
Before he became a professor, Lingwall was a clerk on the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and a practicing attorney. In 2019, he co-founded Redfish Metrics, LLC, a statistical consulting and strategy firm based in Boise.
“It’s an honor to be included in a list of such accomplished individuals,” Lingwall said. “Teaching in the College of Business and Economics offers a unique opportunity to bring real-world experience into the classroom and take principles from the classroom and apply them to the world. I’m grateful that my parents taught me the importance of education, and that my family has been patient for the long journey that followed. I’ve also been continually blessed with a rich network of professional colleagues and partners who have taught, mentored and pushed me along the way.”
Lingwall joins Assistant Professor Nirmala Kandadai as Boise State faculty named to the Accomplished Under 40 list.
