González Cárdenas and Wakild to produce book on Idaho Latinas

María González Cárdenas, former college counselor in the College Assistance Migrant Program, and Emily Wakild, professor of history and director of environmental studies, received a Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan grant from the Idaho Humanities Council to produce a book entitled “Nosotras,” profiling 50 inspiring Latinas who have shaped Idaho in the last fifty years.

In the book, Latinas will provide testimony about their experiences, their struggles, their presence, their dreams and goals in their own voices. The writing will be accessible to a range of readers including both Spanish and English speakers. The Department of History is facilitating this humanities grant and Latina students and alums will produce the artwork as well as contribute biographies.

If you have suggestions for Latinas to highlight in the book, please contact Emily Wakild at emilywakild@boisestate.edu.
