Kristin Snopkowski, associate professor of anthropology, and Paula Sheppard of the University of Oxford co-edited a special issue of the journal Social Sciences titled, “The Behavioral Ecology of the Family.” This issue includes 13 articles analyzing topics including mating, marriage, and divorce; reproductive outcomes; and alloparenting in diverse communities around the world.
Snopkowski and Sheppard also published an article in the issue: “Behavioral Ecology of the Family: Harnessing Theory to Better Understand Variation in Human Families” which overviews the field of human behavioral ecology and argues that this theoretical framework can provide additional insights into the study of human families, the authors said.
