Enrollment open for virtual cybersecurity summer camps

Boise State computer science faculty assistant professor Gaby Dagher and assistant professor Jidong Xiao have been granted an award by the National Security Agency and National Science Foundation to host two summer camps to increase cybersecurity awareness. These free, virtual summer camps will be hosted in July, and interested students should apply by May 9.

The first, girls-only camp will be from July 12-16, 2021, and a boys and girls camp will be held from July 19-23. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to apply. Computer science faculty and staff will introduce and cement knowledge of cybersecurity first principles, increase the curiosity of the participants about the field of cybersecurity, encourage participants to seek further education in cybersecurity and motivate participants to seek a career in cybersecurity. No prior coding experience is necessary. Accepted participants will receive a free Raspberry Pi Toolkit.

Underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply. The camp will be held virtually. For more information and to apply visit GenCyber 2021 or contact the Computer Science Department at computerscience@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-5766.
