Sustainability Pop-Up Gallery
The Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) Sustainability Committee, in cooperation with the Student Union Building (SUB) Fine Arts Program, will exhibit innovative creators whose original works speak to the theme of environmental sustainability. Awardees include: Kelly Hayes, Clara Adams, Taylor Foerster, Phinneas Long, Olivia Johnson and Anna Yocom.
The Sustainability Pop-Up Gallery rotates artworks each Earth Day in collaboration with the Sustainability Center and its ASBSU Sustainability Committee. The exhibition space’s non-traditional layout challenges the white cube model of traditional gallery spaces and focuses on supporting the economic development of professional makers by paying students for their artwork. The space also marks an important intersection in the SUB, where many students and visitors pass each day, making this a highly visible spot for makers to showcase and their work.
Emerging: CWI Capstone Collection Exhibition
The Student Union Fine Arts Gallery is hosting an exhibition for College of Western Idaho (CWI) graduating art students until May 9, 2021. The CWI studio art program promotes the development of artistic skills and practice, craftsmanship, and aesthetic discernment. The degree in studio art provides students with a foundational understanding of the history of visual culture, provides opportunities to grow as artists, and prepares students who are interested in transferring to a four–year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree in art. The 2021 capstone celebrates the artistic and academic achievements of these CWI studio art program graduates.
