On Wednesday, Oct. 28, Dana Oster, financial wellness coordinator with Student Financial Services, lost her home in a fire.
A GoFundMe campaign is currently under way.
Valerie Marsh, director of Student Financial Services, provided the following comment:
“The fire happened so fast that Dana and her wife, Karen, had about 30 seconds from the time the neighbor knocked on the door to evacuate. She and Karen and their two fur babies made it out safe. The house was completely destroyed. Dana and Karen lost everything. The insurance company said they will bulldoze the house to rebuild. They also had a back shed full of family heirlooms and memorabilia that were lost. Dana said first edition books and priceless art pieces were also lost.”
The couple will need to replace nearly everything including linens, kitchen supplies, clothing, technology and much more. They will be living in temporary housing with limited space for the next six-to-nine months while their home is being rebuilt.
Donations can be made on the GoFundMe campaign page.
