Royce Hutson, an associate professor in the School of Social Work and the first Jefferson Science fellow from Idaho, delivered a lecture as part of the Jefferson Science Fellowship Distinguished Lecture Series on Aug. 4. His presentation, “The Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Family Members of ISIS Fighters: The Science of Preventing Violent Extremism,” can be streamed on the National Academics of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine website.
In it, Hutson discusses the current state of science in the rehabilitation and reintegration for families of alleged ISIS fighters repatriated from Syria. He also speaks on his experience in facilitating technical assistance to repatriating countries and what constitutes “evidenced-based” interventions.
