Kathy Hurley, a lecturer in the Department of Accountancy, formalized the Treasure Valley VITA Coalition, which consists of the Boise State VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, the International Rescue Committee and the Boise School District.
VITA has been helping these organizations for several years by having one-day VITA events at their locations and providing all of the volunteers, site administration and coordination. This year, official sites were established at the rescue committee and Boise School District locations with Boise State VITA again providing all of the volunteers and administration.
The goals of the coalition are to expand VITA services in the Treasure Valley, assist in the establishment of more VITA sites that can operate independently of Boise State and provide year-round tax preparation services.
